My Teachers
Chögyal Namkhai Norbu
Chögyal Namkhai Norbu was born in eastern Tibet in 1938. He was recognized at an early age as a reincarnation of the great Dzogchen master Adzom Drukpa (1842-1924). At the age of sixteen he met Rigdzin Changchub Dorje (1863-1961), who introduced him to the authentic knowledge of Dzogchen.
Chögyal Namkhai Norbu had the opportunity to study with great teachers and he had a deep respect for the Dzogchen teachings’ traditions. He worked tirelessly for the preservation of Tibetan language and culture, the background on which the teachings had flourished. At the same time he adapted the presentation of the teachings to changing circumstances, making them accessible to an ever-growing number of practitioners. With this intention, he developed innovative, yet rigorous and effective ways of conveying the essence of Dzogchen.
Dzogchen means entering a state in which we experience ourselves as we really are, and so discover our real nature, our original condition. Remaining aware of this recognition, and integrating this awareness in our daily lives, we become more relaxed, and allow a happier, kinder and more meaningful mode of being to evolve spontaneously. Chögyal Namkhai Norbu realised that the Dzogchen teachings have a universal value, and are important for the West, where many are searching for a different, more fulfilling way of life.
Teaching activities
In the 1970s many people from diverse backgrounds were approaching Chögyal Namkhai Norbu to ask for information and spiritual advice. These first encounters generated an increasing interest, which culminated in the first Dzogchen teaching seminar being held in Italy in the summer of 1976. And so a community of students had gradually developed, which was to become the International Dzogchen Community. In October 1981 they acquired a property in Tuscany as a location for the first center, or Gar, of the Dzogchen Community, marking the birth of Merigar. After Merigar, nine other Gars would soon be established all over the world.
In the early 1970s Rinpoche also started to teach Yantra Yoga, a practice that his uncle Togden Ugyen Tendzin had taught him. This ancient form of yoga uses harmonious movements linked to various aspects of breathing, to help practitioners gain awareness of their body, control the breath, and coordinate the vital energy.
In 1990 he introduced the Dance of the Vajra, a method of movement in contemplation. Santi Maha Sangha, which means Dzogchen Community, is a course of study and practice in nine levels that Rinpoche started in 1992.
The Longsal Cycle of teachings, or The Luminous Clarity of the Universe, Heart Essence of the Dakinins, is a collection of teachings rediscovered by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and published in ten volumes. The picture below shows the Longsal symbol.

An engineer by training, Dr. Levry earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree of Science in Industrial Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York and also holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Metaphysical Science. As a scholar, Dr. Levry seamlessly joins ancient eastern wisdom, mysticism, and healing practices such as meditation, breath work and yoga, with revelatory western science, mathematics, modern medicine and metaphysics. Through his music, lectures and writings, Dr. Levry has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people with his unifying message of harnessing the deep healing power of unconditional love, global peace and embracing service to others. Dr. Levry led more than 3,000 brilliant young minds from over 80 countries as a keynote speaker at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, during the IMUNA’s 46th annual National High School Model United Nations Conference. He was commended by the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce as a “Global Visionary” and “Local Leader” for both his international and local contributions to the community. Dr. Levry was featured by CNN as an authentic voice and top influencer amongst stars like Jay-Z and Beyonce, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Common for setting the agenda for global culture and leading the health and wellness movement, particularly in the black community. CNN host and commentator, Van Jones, highlighted Dr. Levry among prominent world figures working to improve the state of physical and mental health during the Covid-19 crisis and beyond. Dr. Levry was a guest speaker at the #MAYDAY 2020 synchronized meditation and prayer event, alongside Reverend Michael Beckwith, Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Martin Luther King Jr. III, Sadhguru and other spiritual leaders, artists and influencers. From leading massive Global Gatherings for Peace and Healing, to ground-breaking work in music scientifically acknowledged to heal, to empowering youth from elementary to university levels with impactful programs and transformational lectures world-wide, Dr. Levry is putting into action a universal message of healing and peace for today’s world. Dr. Levry is realizing his life’s vision of reviving the primordial heart and spirit of humankind with a pure and effective body of knowledge that is referred to as Divine Spiritual Wisdom. He can be heard saying in many of his classes, courses and events, “It is our job to give hope to the hopeless, faith to the faithless and love to those without love.” Dr. Levry passionately devotes his life to presenting science and spirituality from a unified perspective that allows humanity to navigate the fluctuations of life through an expanded understanding of the immutable mathematical laws of nature through which the Divine operates. His early upbringing and educational background prepared him both in the mathematical sciences and in metaphysics, in essence, providing him with a sound understanding as to the fundamental questions concerning the nature of reality. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Polytechnic Institute in New York City, was groomed in early childhood by a pristine lineage of Rose-Croix Kabbalists as to the laws of metaphysics, and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Metaphysical Science from the Institute of Metaphysical Humanistic Science. Physics, quantum physics and metaphysics, alchemy and chemistry provide the theoretical framework for the mechanisms at work within Naam Yoga and the Harmonyum Healing System that Dr. Levry developed.
